  • alternating rose/purple flowers;
  • flowers single or 2-4 in the leaf axils;
  • leaves shaped like a ladder with “needles” at the end;
  • minimum length: 10 cm;
  • maximum length: 100 cm;
  • flowers from May to July;
  • annual;
  • semi-shade to light;
  • pollination: bees, bumblebees, day and night butterflies, …;
  • supporting leaves at the base of the leaf, each with a black spot. This spot contains a sugary substance that attracts ants, which in turn protect the plant from other insects.
